Feel at Ease and Ready to Practice
There is a lot to remember the first time you practice in a new space. First things first, read the class etiquette and faqs below. Email [email protected] if you still have questions. If it feels better to ask questions in person, arrive early and we can discuss them.
Class Etiquette
1.
Purchase Your Pass:
You are required to purchase a drop-in or class card before you pre-register for the class. So, if it’s your first class, make sure you purchase the “Free First Time Class”.
2.
Book Your Spot:
Upon acquiring your class or class card, you are now ready to reserve your spot in any available classes. However, in the event that a class reaches full capacity, you have the option to join the waitlist.
3.
Waitlist Protocol:
As soon as a spot opens up in a class you’ve been waitlisted for, everyone on the waitlist will receive an email notification, extending an invitation to claim the spot. In this scenario, it operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
4.
Early Cancel:
At any point leading up to 6 hours before the class commencement, you have the flexibility to cancel your reservation. However, if you are unable to cancel after the 6th hour before the class begins, it will be regarded as a late cancellation.
5.
Late Cancel:
While I understand that missing a class can occur, it’s important to consider that it denies another person the chance to participate. As a result, please be aware that there will be no reimbursement for missed classes. In the event of an emergency, promptly contact me at [email protected].
6.
Props to Bring:
Grace Space has mats, blocks, bolsters and blankets that can be used at your leisure, I just ask that you clean your props that you use. You are welcome to bring your own as well.
7.
What to Wear:
When it comes to attire, opt for lightweight and breathable clothing that allows for comfortable movement. Additionally, I suggest having socks and a sweater on hand for the cool-down segments of the class.
8.
When to Arrive:
Observing class etiquette by arriving early is key to ensuring you have ample time to prepare for a delightful experience. You’re welcome to arrive at any time within the 5 to 15 minutes leading up to the start of class, but please aim to be arrive no later than 5 minutes prior.
9.
Class Starts On Time:
Yup, you read that correctly. Regrettably, if you happen to arrive after this time, I won’t have the means to grant you access. Remember, adhering to this particular class etiquette is of paramount importance.
10.
Socialize Before Class:
I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to connect with one another before the class starts. You’re more than welcome to arrive early, engage in conversations with friends, and if you’re an extroverted individual, consider introducing yourself to fellow attendees.
11.
Adjustment Chips:
Before a class starts, you will have the opportunity to collect an adjustment chip. It’s important to note that in the absence of this chip, I won’t be providing adjustments or massages during the session. Should you prefer adjustments for specific segments of the class, simply slide your chip beneath your mat.
12.
Silence After Class:
Clients tend to be calm and introspective after a class is over. I ask that once class has finished that you remain silent or whisper until after you’ve left the building. Class etiquette is an important element in supporting everybody in their practice.
Frequently Asked Questions
It’s best to communicate injuries or required modifications by emailing [email protected]. I am not qualified to diagnose injuries or ailments, but can make recommendations on practitioners who can assist you. During class this means, hands on adjustments will be limited as group classes don’t allow for back and forth interactivity which is important with injuries. I recommend moving slower than instructed, don’t do anything that feels like ‘Capital T’ painful, and bring blocks and straps for class. Options will be offered for as many postures as possible, and I encourage you to start with the first option, which is the most accessible and then feel your way into deeper variations.
Often times, privates are a far more appropriate option and I have a wonderful teacher I recommend for those.
Hells to the yeah. I personally don’t want to be touched either. If you don’t have an adjustment chip at your mat, I can assure you, you will be left to enjoy your practice free of adjustments or massages.
No. I don’t have a computer set up at a reception desk, nor the time before class starts to sell folks a pass and register them on their behalf. Please pre-register for a class that has spots available in them up to 5 or more minutes before it starts.
If it was an emergency, email me at [email protected]. Don’t forget – you can remove yourself out of a class up to 6 hours before it begins without penalty.
The software will tell you how many folks are on the waitlist for a class. If there are 3 or less, you’ll likely be added to the class. This means, I suggest planning as if you are going. Clients can cancel out of a class up to 6 hours before it begins. It’s around this time, you might get an email asking if you would like the open spot. Please know that getting the email doesn’t automatically place you in the class – you must accept the offer by clicking on the link.
I see this one often. It’s not necessary. If you have an adjustment chip, I promise to give you adequate adjustments based on the needs of the room during class. Let me know if you are looking for something specific before class begins.
No. Loose fitting gym shorts and a t-shirt are more than sufficient. If you end up falling in love with the practice, you might prefer athletic attire that is breathable and wicks sweat away from your body. But in the beginning you’ll likely be more focused on learning the technique. The investment can come later once you’ve decided this practice is something you are confident you’ll be pursuing.
Yes. There will be limited access to community props at the studio. For years I used a water bottle as a block, and a bathrobe belt as my strap. You can get creative, nobody is judging you!
Ahh, great question. Missing the cut off is tough. I’ve sooo done this before, and for expensive workshops too. In the moment it’s easy to feel angry and think “I needed this,” or “I shouln’t have to pay”. What is helpful to remember in those moments is this – This is yoga. Take a deep breath, and then go for a long walk along the river and take in all the smells and sounds. You can practice letting go over control, patience and compassion. This is where our yoga practice comes alive.
You can email me at [email protected] – I’m always here to help.
I’m the only one running this business, – I’m the bookkeeper, the teacher, the brand manager, the visionary and the customer service support. Being that I am a small and mighty team of 1, I will address your concerns with kindness, compassion and professionalism.
There are no refunds on any class cards purchased. This is why you can try the studio out, risk free, by purchasing your first class free.
