Change Your Life with a
Yoga Teacher Training (YTT)
200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training + 100-Hour Continued Education
Our 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training is designed to provide you with a deep understanding of Hatha Yoga and contemporary Vinyasa Yoga, while immersing you in the tradition of yoga philosophy. This training is perfect for both aspiring yoga teachers and those looking to deepen their practice. This training will be held in Whitehorse, YT in the winter of 2024/2025.
"Find your passion and teach from a
place of radical authenticity"
At Amitié Yoga, we are regular people living regular lives, aiming to move our bodies today and well into our later years. We prioritize our personal lives and see yoga as an accompaniment, not our entire existence. Our practice is intended to be a form of exercise that the body needs, incorporating philosophical undertones to help us deal with various aspects of life, from mental strength, body image empowerment, family challenges, trauma sensitivity and more.
We will explore modern-day science on how the body moves while embracing eastern philosophy on living simply and with integrity. This blend will give us the strength to leave the classroom and engage fully in our lives, no matter how beautiful or challenging it may be. Completing this 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training, YTT, along with the additional 100 hour self study training will prepare you for a rich life full of wonder, curiosity and leadership.
"Yoga takes you into the present moment,
the only place where life exists."
- Patanjali

My journey has been deeply enriching, allowing me to cultivate a profound understanding of yoga’s physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions.

While this will be the first teacher training program I am leading in its entirety, I bring a wealth of experience as a mentor and educator. I have successfully mentored dozens of teacher trainees, helping them develop their teaching skills and deepen their practice. My mentoring experience has equipped me with the insights and tools needed to support and nurture aspiring yoga teachers.

Additional Faculty Members:
I am looking to add a few more faculty members to our teacher training program so that we can bring more experts from Whitehorse into our learning together. We are still in discussions with a few well-known members of the community and look forward to sharing more information with you soon. If you are a yoga teacher and are interested in teaching at the training, or teaching certain sections of the syllabus, please email [email protected].
The only thing left to do is, say YES!
Still Have Questions?
Our training program is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of yoga. It includes 200 hours of instruction, covering techniques, training, practice, anatomy, physiology, yoga philosophy, teaching methodology, professional development, and practicum. Additionally, we offer 100 hours of continued education for further growth and mentorship.
Upon successful completion of the training, you will receive a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification. This YTT program is in the process of being reviewed by the Yoga Alliance, with the expectation that our certification will be approved either before or just after the training begins. This certification will allow you to register as a RYT-200 (Registered Yoga Teacher) with Yoga Alliance.
Each day will vary, however our start and end times will not. We will commence at 6 am and end at 4:30 pm, Saturday to Thursday. Each session runs the span of 6 days, with 8.25 total hours a day.
While we recommend having a consistent home or in studio practice, our program is designed to accommodate various levels of experience. We focus on developing both your personal practice and teaching skills.
You will need a yoga mat, comfortable clothing, and a notebook. A list of required and recommended reading materials will be provided upon registration. The training manual is included in the tuition.
Yes, there will be some homework, including reading assignments, written essays, and self-study. Additionally, you will be required to practice teaching and attend a few yoga classes outside of the training hours.
You will need a yoga mat, comfortable clothing, and a notebook. A list of required and recommended reading materials will be provided upon registration. The training manual is included in the tuition.
We require full attendance to ensure you get the most out of the training. However, we understand that emergencies happen. If you miss a session, we will work with you to make up the missed hours through additional assignments or one-on-one sessions.
Yes, upon completion and certification, you will be qualified to teach yoga classes. Our program prepares you with the necessary skills, knowledge, and confidence to start teaching right away. However, most teachers start with what is often referred to as ‘Community Classes’, which are discounted classes that encourage folks to attend a new teachers class. This will give you the opportunity to build your skills in a class room environment. Most teachers start here and within 10-15 classes move on to regular classes.
Absolutely. We offer continued mentorship and support through our 100-hour continued education program, which includes one-on-one sessions, group support sessions, and feedback on class recordings and sequences. Beyond that, there is a teacher mentorship program you can check out if you want to continue growing alongside the support of a mentor.
Our training focuses on Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, providing a strong foundation in these styles. The skills you learn can be applied to teaching other styles as well, and we encourage you to continue learning and exploring different yoga traditions.
You can register for the training by clicking here and completing the registration form. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at [insert contact information].
There are no formal prerequisites, but do try to practice 3-4 times a week in preparation of the training. You can take any online classes on youtube if getting into a group public class isn’t possible. There is also a recommended reading list that will be provided to you upon registration that you can begin to read.
We limit our class size to ensure each student receives personalized attention and support. This allows for a more intimate learning environment where you can get the feedback and guidance you need. We will be accepting a minimum of 10 students into the program and 15 as a maximum.
Please inform us of any medical conditions or injuries prior to the training on your registration form. If there are any necessary speaking points, we will set up a time to review your health status and confirm that you are well enough to attend the training. We may require a doctors note in some instances. If accepted into the training, we will work with you to modify poses and practices as needed to ensure your safety and comfort.
The training will take place at Grace Space in Whitehorse, YT which offers a serene and conducive environment for learning and practice. Detailed directions and information about the venue will be provided upon acceptance into the teacher training.
Yes, there will be practical assessments, written assignments, 3 essays, and teaching practicums throughout the training to ensure you understand the material and are prepared to teach.
